Rangpur red lime (Citrus limonia) is an eye-catchingly beautiful variety of citrus fruit.
Recognizable by its orange or deep red skin, the fruit is generally round or slightly ovate in shape and has a thin, wrinkled skin. The flesh inside is a light orange color. From an ornamental point of view, it is a very satisfying citrus fruit, as it fruits abundantly in clusters.
Native to India and Bangladesh, the Rangpur lime grows well in warm, tropical climates. It requires abundant sunlight and well-drained soil. It is relatively resistant to diseases and pests, but may need regular irrigation and control of growing conditions.
This variety is very versatile in cooking. Its pulp and peel can be used to make juices, jams, sauces and condiments. It is also used in cocktails and for flavoring dishes because of its distinctive flavor.
